Enlightenment – a journey within through service

Welcome address of Dr. H.P. Kanoria at 10th World Confluence of Humanity, Power & Spirituality held at Kolkata on 22nd – 23rd December 2017

Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Reverent Religious Leaders, Eminent Guests and Speakers, Divine Brothers, Sisters and Dear Youth.

Good morning, Jai Hind, Jai Viswa!

Wish you all a Merry Christmas in advance!

I welcome you all to the Tenth World Confluence of Humanity, Power and Spirituality. I extend my gratified thanks to all for gracing the confluence. Your deliverance and presence will promote spirituality, humanity, peace, harmony, unity in diversity, hard work with devotion, righteousness, truthfulness, simplicity, austerity, cooperation and the realisation of God abiding within all beings.

We are all manifestations of God. We are created in His own image. God was alone. He said, “I am alone, let there be many”– “Ekoham Bahusyam”     एकोहम बहुस्याम

He is seated in the hearts of all beings. God is the force within us. We are perfect and divine. The Universe is marked by unity with diversity. Our soul which is a part of the universal soul is infinite and immortal, and part of the universal soul is in all beings. So, there is no upper and lower class, no inferiority and superiority in men and women. Both are equal. The only difference is of gender. All the rivers of the world flowing through different countries merge with the oceans, and the oceans return water in the form of rain to nurture God’s marvellous creation.

Science has proved that physical individuality is a delusion. The sum total of cosmic energy is always the same. Science is in finding unity. Its goal is to reach perfect unity. Physics discovers a single source of energy out of which all are created/manifested/ expanded/subdued. Chemistry’s goal is to discover one element out of which all others could be created. Manifestation not creation, are today in the world of science. Lord Krishna said, “The entire universe has been manifested from my form. All beings are dependent on me, but I am not dependent on them”.

                                 Maya Tata Midom

God is everywhere and in everything. Truth, eternal order, austerity, simplicity, hardwork with devotion, humility and humanity uphold Mother Earth to give us bounty to live full span of life happily and united amidst diversity in grace, free from ego. Religions of the world are complementary and not contradictory. Conversion from one religion to another religion is inhumane and against the respective Gods. One’s own religion is the mother and other religions are sisters of the mother—so was believed by Paramhansa Sri Ramkrishna. Have your core belief in the oneness of all. There is no concept of conversion.

Humanity is the essence of all religions. Spirituality ignites in one the determination to work hard with devotion and righteousness to create wealth for generations to come for the welfare of humanity. It is essential to work hard selflessly to provide basic needs to the ever increasing population growing at a pace higher than that of current economic growth.

Save Mother Earth, do not Fight; Assimilate, do not destroy. Bring harmony and peace, not dissention. Let the world have a cosmic cooperative spirit. Spirituality manifests divinity within us. It creates international bondage, one family and one world.

I would like to narrate a story from The Holy Vedas. The demi Gods andGoddesses, and human beings were hollow and full of sorrow despite having all the riches and bounty of nature. They approached the Supreme God, Vishnu who advised the demi Gods and Goddesses to have empathy, sympathy and kindness for human beings, and be free of ego to work hard with devotion and righteousness, selfless, live with simplicity and austerity and donate the wealth to the poor without ego. Help them to assist themselves and rise in life.

Spirituality infuses elements of balance and right living in physical, mental and intellectual personalities. Intuition is developed. It is then that life becomes balanced. “Service to Humanity is the worship of Lord Shiva (God)” said Paramhansa Sri Ramkrishna. Jesus Christ pronounced, “The only right in the world is to give, to serve. Be content to serve. Serve the world.” Swami Vivekananda said, “Do not neglect the living God, the man and woman who are the infinite reflection of God.”

Let us march ahead with firmness and determination, keeping high the flag of humanity and spirituality to manifest divinity, overcome global hunger and global warming, have harmony and peace, believing that the essence of all religions lie in cosmic cooperation and co-existence. God calls, “O Children, realise all in one, one in all.”

Om, Amin, Amen, Ek Onkar, Ahura Mazda.

Welcome Address at launch of Acid Survivors Foundation India Western Chapter

Honourable eminent guests on the dais and in the audience, brothers and sisters.
Good evening. I welcome you to “The Presentation on ASFI and the Initiation of the Western India Chapter of Acid Survivors Foundation of India”. Based on conservative estimates 500 – 1000 persons suffer acid attacks in India every year amongst which 80% are women and children. In order to make our services more readily available to the large number of victims in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat it has been decided to open the Western Chapter of ASFI in Mumbai for the benefit of acid attack survivors to give them a life of dignity, usefulness and self-respect under the able guidance of Mr.VinodJuneja
Acid violence is the deliberate use of acid to attack another human being. Over 80% of victims are women who have spurned sexual advances, marriage proposals or questioned the authority of men within the family or community. Perhaps unsurprisingly acid attacks tend to occur in countries where there is significant gender discrimination and weak controls on the availability of acid. Acid is a cheap and easily available weapon. It can disfigure in seconds, resulting in devastating physical and psychological trauma which have life-long consequences.
Acid Survivors Foundation India (ASFI) was established at Kolkata and registered as a non-profit organization in February 2010. It is one of the leading NGO’s in India for prevention of acid burn violence as well as for providing support services to survivors through a network of chapters and partners, by sharing knowledge, expertise and best practices.
An acid victim SonaliMukherji’s pleaded for voluntary death rather than a survivor’s life of penury and rejection led to widespread agitation, mass protests and media attention.
This led to positive developments like the enactment of The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013 which made acid attack and attempt to attack with acid separate cognizable offences. Perpetuators of acid violence are now liable to be imprisoned for not less than ten years which may extend to imprisonment for life.
A few months ago the Supreme Court, while hearing a Writ petitionfiled on behalf of an acid victim Laxmiissued directions for compliance and report by December 2013: Enactment of appropriate measures for regulation of sale of acid; measures for proper treatment, after care, needs and rehabilitation of acid attack survivors; compensation payable to victims by the State / or creation of some separate fund for payment of compensation to them.
The Criminal Procedure Code provides for a scheme to allocate funds for compensation to victims who have suffered loss or injury as a result of crime and require rehabilitation pursuant to which several states have prepared Victim Compensation Schemes which are not uniform. The Court has directed all states to follow a uniform procedure of granting Rs 300,000 in each acid attack case of which Rs.100,000 to be paid within 15 days of occurrence to facilitate immediate medical attention and the balance not later than 2 months.
ASFI’s future course of action
1.Legislative changes: For regulating acid sale, speedy and efficacious prosecution of perpetrators, adequate compensation, treatment and rehabilitation of survivors.

2.Awareness at National & State Levels: A campaign based on effective media and communication strategy to address this issue.

3.A Trauma Care Centre, Specialised Burn Unit and Rehabilitation Centre of International Standard is on the drawing boards.

I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to all the dignitaries and guests who have kindly made time to partner us in our goal of making a meaningful transformation in the lives of acid survivors.
Let us march hand in hand to eradicate gender violence especially in its most vicious form of acid violence.
Om !Amen !Amin !EkOnkar !AhuraMazda !

Welcome Address at the Launch of Acid Survivors Foundation India Southern Chapter

Honourable  eminent speakers, honoured guests and brothers and sisters.

Good afternoon, I welcome you to The launching of “War on terror caused due to acid attack” in Southern India, a campaign organised by Acid Survivors Foundation India for containing the alarming increase in acid attack cases in South India and mitigating the challenges faced by survivors.

Based on conservative estimates 100 – 500 persons suffer acid attacks in India every year. In order to make our services more readily available to the large number of victims in India chapters of ASFI have been operationalised at Delhi for North India and Mumbai for Western India. The launching of the chapter here in Chennai for covering South India will benefit the survivors of acid violence from this region to give them a life of dignity, usefulness and self-respect.

Acid violence is the deliberate use of acid to attack another human being. Over 80% of victims are women and children who have spurned sexual advances, marriage proposals or questioned the authority of men within the family or community.  Perhaps unsurprisingly acid attacks tend to occur in regions where there is significant gender discrimination and weak controls on the availability of acid.  Acid is a cheap and easily available weapon.  It can disfigure in seconds, resulting in devastating physical and psychological trauma which have life-long consequences.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court, has given directions for enactment of appropriate measures for regulation of sale of acid; measures for proper treatment, after care and rehabilitation of acid attack survivors; compensation payable to victims by the State / or creation of some separate fund for payment of compensation to them. This is yet to be implemented in totality and needs to be taken up in true earnest.

ASFI’s future course of action

Welcome Address at the Fifth World Confluence of Humanity, Power & Spirituality

Honourable Dr.Prof A P J Abdul Kalam, Former President of India, Revered Swami Jitatmananda Ji , Hon’ble Mr.Hujjatul Islam Wal Muslemeen Agha Mahdi Mahadavipour, Hon’ble Dr.Mustafa Oman Ismail and eminent guests on the dais and in the audience, brothers, sisters, dear youth and dear children….

Good afternoon. I welcome you to this Confluence. Season’s greetings and best wishes for a happy, prosperous and peaceful ensuing New Year. May God bless us with peace, harmony, unity, righteousness, integrity, truthfulness, austerity, simplicity and love for all. Let us work hard for human excellence through spirituality and science. World assets have to be built up to generate wealth to provide food and jobs for all (7 bn population). For this, we have to work hard with discipline.

We organise this Confluence every year for the propagation of humanity, awakening of inner power, balancing trinity of power through spirituality. Swami Vivekananda said, “manifest divinity within you”; Mark, if you give up spirituality the result will be that in three generation you will be extinct”. Spirituality develops a fine type of manhood. It strengthens your struggles of life and gives strength to be on the journey of life with joy and showering joy. You are indestructible consciousness protected in the bosom of spirit’s immortality. He said “Not Socialism! Not Politicization! India needs spirituality to create fearlessness in new generation, discipline hard work and service to the nation”.

All the enlightened saints took the suffering of the humanity on themselves like Jesus Christ, Paramhansa Sri Ramakrishna. Some had afflicted their own bodies to relieve others of suffering. They have been reaping the harvest of delight and illumination for all living beings.

This Confluence will ignite the spirit of service to the humanity and to the nature. Swami Vivekananda said that – do not neglect the living God, the man who is the infinite reflection of God. Quote “who neglect the living God and His infinite reflections with which the world is full. Him worship – the only visible, knowable, real Omni present, break all other idols. Vedic scriptures (Hinduism) “Jiva Seva is Shiva seva” (Service to Humanity is Service to Lord Shiva).

Isha Upanishad says:-

“If one sees all beings in one self and oneself in all beings, how can one feel repulsion for the other?

Bulle Shah

Spare only the human heart

Which is the house of God.

Gospel – St.Mathew

Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful.

Blessed are the pure in heart

For they shall see God

Blessed are the peacemakers.

Women are reflection of God’s love. They have been subject to humiliation, suffering, physical abuses and mental tortures. Crimes against them have been increasing. Nation must punish the accused with severe punishment including death. No acquittal under provision of doubt of evidence or mercy petition.

They have strength mightier than that of men. History confirms their courage and strength. They need to be awakened through spirituality.

Children and youth are needed to be ignited and inspired to be alchemist to have the virtues of spirituality. They have to be an excellent human being. They have to harness the infinite power, which God has endowed each one of us. Let them march the journey of life with adventures of joy, pain, happiness, love and service. Spirituality develops finer type of manhood. Your spiritual manifestation will always glorify whatever you do. Spirited eye enables us to see our connection with every condition of life. Patience, endurance, courage come when spiritual eye opens. Swamiji’s dream was to inject the eternal spiritual ideas in all spheres of life, education, business, patriotism and more so in the ritualistic religions.

During historical Bengal famine (perhaps men created) Swami Vivekananda wanted to sell the land purchased to build Belurmath to serve the hungry and dying people in hunger.

He said “work, work, work”. I care for nothing else. Work, work, work even unto death. Be useful, not only yogi.

Various religions are flower of different colours to be tied with a cord of love into a beautiful bouquet to be offered at this alter of truth. Spirituality develops fine spirit of unity.

Let us march ahead with the flag of humanity and unity through spirituality to serve the purpose of creator. We must have the whole education of our country, spiritual and secular. Let us arise, awake and work hard.

Om ! Amen ! Amin ! Ek Onkar ! Ahura Mazda !

Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Addressing the Audience at World Alliance of Religions Peace Summit, Seoul

Distinguished Dignitaries on the Dias, Brother’s & Sisters

It is indeed a great privilege to be Invited here at the World Alliance of religion for peace. I greatly appreciate the work undertaken by HWPL under the leadership of Chairman Man Hee Lee for this great cause.

We have all gathered here to spread the message of Love and peace in this world in keeping with the defining need of the moment that is witness to crime and violence in steep ascent and the standards of social and moral values in sharp descent.

Laws cannot change society but that a change in inner consciousness and outward Attitude is necessary for building a peaceful and orderly humane and happy society.

As the Chairman of the World Confluence of Humanity, Power and Spirituality it is my privilege to inform that we will be holding the Sixth World confluence on 26th & 27th December 2014 at Kolkata India. The world confluence is a unique non – denominational and non – sectarian Institution, respecting all religious and traditions while having faith in one’s own. It extracts the best from them like the breezing bee making honey from a bouquet of flowers. The message is that spirituality without humanity is barren and humanity without spirituality is brutal. It seeks to awaken the dorment inner power of human beings who are “offspring of immortality “to lead an inspirational and contended life informed with moral values and spiritual principles. It believes that the world is one family and Mother earth shelters all humanity.

The experience of the World Confluence of Humanity, Power & Spirituality has been warmly welcomed by the public now for the last five years and has received the whole heated support of the elite and the lay alike. It is the first of its kind confluence to set a benchmark by taking in its sweep the multifarious and challenging issues concessing humanity, power and spirituality that are closely linked together. Several distinguished luminaries representing different traditions and disciplines across the world participating in the conference have expressed the view that every religion stands for service to humanity, preaches moral and social virtues, and prescribes a doctrinal code and a specific path leading to the one cosmic truth.

The World confluence accords a special place to women who are a source of Inspiration, Love and selfless services. Swami Vivekandananda said “The best thermometer to the progress of a nation is its treatment its women.

Children are the future of the Country and there consciousness has to be transformed through Spiritual alchemy so that they ascend from human thinking to divine understanding.

It is a privilege for me to extend an Invitation to all present here to attend our conference to be held in December this year in Kolkata, India which will strengthen our own resolve and allow us also to spread the message of peace and humanity in this world.

Hinduism is the oldest surviving religion in the world. It has evolved from prehistoric times through various phases of ongoing development, it is without a beginning and the end is perpetual and eternal. It is based on divine revelation and realization Hindu seers have always proprogated the idea of unity of all mankind regardless of faith and place. “All are in one and one is in all “ is the Foundation of Hindu Religious thought.”

Swami Vivekananda, a true Sannyasin (monk ), a great reformer , a preaching nationalist, an illuminated Soul, lived a reformist active life of nine and half years. He expanded Hinduism amidst thunder applauded by four thousand people assembled in World Parliament of Religions on Monday, September 11, 1893 at Art Institute in Chicago, uS.

Addressing “ Sisiters and Brothers of America “ and thanking all the organizers in the name of the mother of all  religions and millions of Hindu people irrespective of classes and sects, Swami Vivekananda said with the voice of a lion, “ I am proud to belong to a religion – Hinduism, which has taught the world both universal tolerance and acceptance. We accept all religions as true.

In the Persian language, people who were living near the river bank of Indus were ‘Sindhu’ or later ‘ Hindus’ . All relevations and the Four Vedas were recorded in ‘ Sruti ‘ or ‘ Smriti’. There were other major scriptures – the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, Vedanta, Puranas, Upanishadas and the Bhagawat Gita.

For years, the Spiritual treasury and spiritual laws were discovered by the enlightened souls just as the law of gravitations existed before its discovery and would exist even if all humanity forgot it. So it is with the laws that govern the spiritual universe. The moral, ethical and spiritual connection between two souls and the relation between the individual spirit and the father of all the spirits were there and would remain forever.

The Vedas teach us that creation is without a beginning or end. Science has proved that the sum total of cosmic energy is always the same. So it can be concluded that there has been creation at all times.

A Hindu believes that every soul is a circle whose circumference is nowhere, but the centre is located in the body. On death, the centre changes to another body . The soul is not bound  by the conditions of matter. It is free, unbounded, holy , pure, perfect, immortal and infinite. The present is determined by past actions and the future by the present.

The ultimate of happiness of a human being is reached when it becomes one with the universal consciousness.

A Hindu uses an external symbol when he worships. It helps him to keep his mind fixed on the being to whom he prays as  he applies all attributes of God to the images. It is not polytheism yet he finds attributes of one to manifestations of many as he associates the ideas of holiness, purity, truth, virtues, omnipresence and such ideas with different images. Hindu’s religion is centered in realization that Man is to become divine realizing the divine and  Idols are only the support .

Scriptures say, “ External worship, material worship is the lowest stage, struggling to rise high, mental prayer is the next stage and highest is the realization of the Lord. Hindus travels from lower to higher truth and from truth to truth.” Sri Krishna, an incarnation of Lord said “ I am in every religion as the thread through a string of pearls. Whereever thou seest extraordinary holiness and extraordi-nary power raising and purifying humanity, know that I am there”. Every religion is evolving a god out of material man. It is the same light coming through glasses of different colour.

Swami Vivekananda said , “ The Hindu’s Universal Religion, it so happens, will have no location in place or time. It will be infinite like God. The Sun of Universal Religion will shine on all followers of all preachers and religions. It will have no place for persecution or intolerance in its policy.

It will recognize divinity in every man and woman. Its whole force will be central, making humanity realize its own true, divine nature.” Love your religion ; be humble and respectful to other religions. You are infinite. The body is the manifestations of the spirit which is youthful.

Have faith in yourself and God. Affirm that you are not a sinner. You are a perfect and infinite soul. Come out of the bondage of habit. Be not the slave of habit, but be master of body matter – habit. March on the path of perfection, realization and unity with the ultimate cosmic infinity – God. Be one with the universal unity. Unity in variety is the plan of nature. Love, but face brutes. Be not fanatic, but face fanatics. Love your religion, but respect other religions. If you are a Christian, be Christian, if you are a Hindu, be a Hindu. Keep harmony and peace.
