Environment 1Dr. H.P. Kanoria is well aware of the degrading environmental conditions and hence has been active in supporting and promoting environment-friendly issues and activities. He strongly supports the goals of the environmental movement that seeks to improve protecting the quality of the natural environment. He was the President of the Agri Horticulture Society of India (Established in 1820). He strongly advocates the protection of all Natural Resources. He has worked with several Conservationists to provide environment friendly solutions in daily life and creating a holistic approach to environment management and sustainable developments.

He has initiated tree plantation programme at IPCL, Haldia on the road connecting NH2 and Niyamatpur; IB Park, Salt Lake; Viom Network, Tamilnadu and Haryana; Footpaths along Agri Horticulture Society of India, New Road, Alipore; He initiated “Clean India Green India” Programme. He has planted fruit trees at Shristinagar Township in Asansol and also at Haldia, Krishnanagar, Shantiniketan and Phatapukur in North Bengal. Srei Infrastructure under the guidance of Dr. H.P. Kanoria got involved in large number of tree plantation in Yamuna Expressway. Likewise, Quippo also is known for active participation in tree rescue activity one of such initiation got highlighted in media.

Environment 2Herbal Power

During his Presidentship at Agri Horticulture Society of India, in order to create awareness and conserve our rare heritage the medicinal plants, he initiated the publication of a book titled “Herbal Power” which was launched by Dr. Prof. APJ Abdul Kalam then President of India in 2004. He also launched a one year Post Graduate Diploma course in Herbalogy in collaboration with Jadavpur University. He also introduced another course on Herbalogy at IISD.

Under his guidance a herbal garden has been developed by IISD at IB Block Park.

He has actively participated in restoration of water bodies like Santragachi Jheel, Bikramgarh Jheel and also supported the cleaning drive of Rabindra Sarovar.
